Hearts for RMHC 5k, 10k, Walk & Fun Run
Learn about our annual race, taking place each August in Parkville, MO.
As an organization founded by runners with a common passion for service, it just made sense for our longest-running (pun intended) fundraiser to be a race. Growing each year since our first in 2019, it continues to be favorite event for the community and board alike.
Registration isn’t open for our 2025 race just yet, but when it’s available you can find it on our RunSignUp.

Race FAQs
-
Hearts for RMHC came to fruition because of likeminded members of the Kansas City running community. It only seemed natural that our organization's first fundraisers happen in this space. The race celebrated its fifth year in 2024 and continues to grow each year.

For the last few years, the race has taken place at English Landing Park in Parkville, MO. While we haven't finalized the location and other details for the 2025 race yet, we would love to continue hosting our 5k, 10k, walk, and fun run at this beautiful park.

Yes! We provide plaques for overall and age group winners in the 5k and 10k. In addition to traditional race-related awards, we also have a traveling team trophy. Running clubs can register as a team, and the team with the largest turnout for the race gets to claim the traveling trophy. The 2023 winner was KC SMART Runners, and our most recent winner is The Measly Mile Mafia based in St. Joe, MO.

The entry fees for this charity raise go toward our organization's general fund, which supplies our year-end monetary donation to RMHC Kansas City. While we do retain a small percentage of all funds raised for operating costs and investment in growth for the next year, the overwhelming majority of money raised through the race and our other fundraisers ends up going directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities of KC, to benefit the families of sick children seeking medical care.
-
Yes! In addition to the family-friendly 5k and 10k, we offer a 1-mile walk and a kids fun run. Our 5k and 10k participants range a wide array of ages. We allow both strollers and dogs, and often see family groups that have been touched my RMHC participating together.

Yes! It's grown every year, too. We provide snacks donated by area grocers, and in the past have had chiropractors, massage therapists, food and drink samples, music, food trucks, and more. As the event continues to grow and mature, our offerings at the finish line party will continue to evolve, as well.
-
Stay tuned. The end of the year is always a hectic season for organization leadership, and we look forward to bringing more information about our 2025 events early next.
-
No. We make a point to welcome every finisher across the line, and since vehicle traffic isn't a concern on this course, you won't be asked to move aside. We keep our finish line open until the last finisher is in, and plan to continue doing so in the future.
-
Packet pickup for the 2025 event has not been decided yet. As a smaller local charity race, we don't provide an expo. Typically our packets are handled in partnership with local running stores. Morning-of registration and pickup have been offered at all of our past races, so we expect to offer it for 2025 as well.

Every finisher receives a medal. Closer to the 2025 race, we'll debut the year's medal design.
Each year we also offer a quality athletic cotton blend t-shirt or tank top, featuring a unique design.
We are always exploring ways to bring added value to our event, and race swag is one way to do that.
